What is the LIT Device?

The LIT Device is a simple airway selector designed to enable prehospital lung isolation using a double-lumen endobronchial tube. By selectively ventilating the uninjured lung, the LIT Device allows the injured lung to be isolated from the breathing circuit. This approach manages patients with severe thoracic injuries where continued ventilation of the injured lung may contribute to ongoing trauma and the need for repeated chest decompression. The LIT Device brings a procedure traditionally associated with the operating room into the prehospital environment, enabling greater patient stabilization earlier in the care process.
